The Shark Bite Newsletter – Issue 02

Welcome to this edition of the Shark bite.

I would like to congratulate all the officers who have been elected to the Sharks Committee’s and all the New officers of the Warriors Committee elected during the recent AGM’s and EGM’s. I know that all those elected will work tirelessly to ensure that over the new season our Club will find steady ground and continue to grow in the true values and ethics of our great sport.

It is fantastic to see the new members of Warriors M&J committee stepping into their new roles, but it is also with great sadness that we are losing the joint driving force behind the Warriors since its foundation, Brett and Linda Wastie are leaving Dubai to explore opportunities in the USA. The Warriors would not be the strong club it is today, were it not for the time and dedication of both Brett and Linda in growing the club and bestowing their standards and values across all aspects of how the club is managed. I know we will all miss them, but I know we will all work to make sure the club they founded continues to grow, but holding true to the Warrior Way; Honour, Loyalty, Courage.

The new season has now kicked off; the senior men are now based at Jebal Ali COE and have played four games in the UAERF Conference League, a number of were very tight games and were it not for one or two unlucky calls the result would have been hugely different.

Our Mini and Juniors are now based at Habtoor Polo Club, training started on the 22nd Sept and the first of the games kicked off on 13th Oct. There is an update on how all these games went in the Warriors Section.

We are still in pursuit of a permeant location where all Sharks and Warriors will be based. Like so many things in Dubai this does take time and the process is full of many curved balls. But we are more than 75% along the way and have jumped over many hurdles. I hope in the very near future to be able to make an announcement on where that is and a timeline when it will be in a playable condition.

The Dubai 7’s is only 6 weeks away, further in this newsletter there are details of how you can confirm that you want to play for one of teams at this years event.
Over the coming weeks, I aim to attend as many games and training sessions of both Sharks and Warriors I can fit in and I look forward to seeing some great rugby.

See you pitch side.
Yours in Rugby Mike Quinn
